The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift – Original Motion Picture Soundtrack
Universal (MT)See this day
The third installment of the Fast and the Furious franchise, Tokyo Drift, brings a diverse J-rock and hip-hop soundtrack to the table, largely eschewing the familiar artists of the first two films for a more niche, yet fitting, sonic landscape.
- The soundtrack features prominent contributions from Japanese hip-hop artists, including Teriyaki Boyz, who perform the iconic opening theme song "Tokyo Drift (Fast & Furious Main Theme)". Other notable inclusions are songs by Don Omar, Daichi Miura, and Bok. B. The album was released on CD and digital download by Universal Music Group's subsidiary, Motown Records.
- The soundtrack reached number 54 on the US Billboard 200 chart. It also charted in the top 10 on the Billboard Soundtracks chart.
- This soundtrack marked a departure from the previous films in the franchise, which had featured a more mainstream R&B and hip-hop leaning sound. Tokyo Drift leaned into its Tokyo setting with more J-pop and hip-hop influences.
Various Artists is a classification for music compilations, typically soundtracks for films and television. This release is a collection of songs that were featured in the 2006 film of the same name.
