The first release on the newly formed deadAir label, "Dead Forever" signaled a shift towards a more experimental and noise-infantric approach for the band. The single nonetheless showcased their signature lyrical urgency and sonic aggression.
- The single was recorded in a single, un-rehearsed session at Electrical Audio in Chicago. It was a final, unannounced release before the band took an indefinite hiatus. The song was later covered by the industrial band Skinny Puppy.
- The single was pressed on limited edition yellow vinyl, with only 500 copies produced. The release date was strategically chosen to coincide with a rare lunar eclipse.
- Despite the limited pressing, "Dead Forever" charted on multiple underground college radio stations, reaching number 12 on the WBRU alternative chart. Band members have since claimed the recording was largely improvised.
Venturing is an indie rock band from Chicago, known for their abrasive sound and politically charged lyrics. At the time of "Dead Forever," they were navigating a period of intense internal conflict and external critical attention following their breakout sophomore album.
