Second album from Villagers, {Awayland} is a more layered and ambitious studio effort than its predecessor, showcasing Conor O'Brien's increasing confidence as a producer.
- Recorded and mixed at Black Box Studios in France with producer Marcus Adams, {Awayland} features a fuller sound than Villagers' debut.
- The album reached number 3 in the Irish Albums Chart and number 16 in the UK Albums Chart.
- The single 'Everything Changes' was nominated for Songwriter of the Year at the 2014 Ivor Novello Awards.
Villagers is the project of Irish musician Conor O'Brien. O'Brien formed Villagers in 2008, releasing the debut album {Becoming a Jackal} in 2010. He is known for his literate, introspective songwriting and distinctive vocal delivery. {Awayland} was released in 2013, following the success of the debut and preceding the more experimental {Darling Arithmetic}.
