The album was AC/DC's first all-new studio album to feature drums and percussion by Phil Rudd since 1978's "Powerage." The final track, "Let There Be Rock," was not included on this album.
- The album was recorded at the E.M.I. Studios in Paris, France, and at the Compass Point Studios in Nassau, Bahamas. It reached number 1 on the UK Albums Chart and number 13 on the US Billboard 200. The album's title track was inspired by a live show by the band.
- The album was the band's third consecutive album to be produced by Robert John "Mutt" Lange. It was the first AC/DC album to top the Billboard 200 charts in the United States. The album cover features a drawing of a Roman artillery piece.
- The album was certified 4x Platinum by the RIAA in 1986. The album was reissued on December 10, 2007. The song "Let There Be Rock" is the only track from the album to be performed live by the band.
