The fourth album from City and Colour, If I Should Go Before You, saw Green move towards a more fleshed-out, band-oriented sound, a departure from the more intimate arrangements of previous LPs.
- Recorded at Nashville's RCA Studio A with producer Adam Hill, the album features Green alongside a formidable band of players. The release marked a shift for Green, who typically recorded solo. The album debuted at number one on the Canadian Albums Chart.
- If I Should Go Before You was City and Colour's first album of new material in three years, following 2011's 'The Hurry and the Harm'. The album was certified platinum in Canada.
- The album's title is taken from a line in the 1945 poem "Keep a-Goin'" by Mary Carolyn Davies. The album was supported by a sold-out North American tour.
City and Colour is the opgenomen project of Canadian singer-songwriter Dallas Green. Green first gained recognition as the lead vocalist and guitarist for the post-hardcore band Alexisonfire.
