Gong is a sprawling, intercontinental experimental rock band formed in Paris in 1969 by the Australian musician Daevid Allen. The band is best known for its pioneering work in the Canterbury scene, blending psychedelic rock, jazz, and space rock. In 2016, Gong was a revived version of the band led by guitarist Steve Hillage and bassist Mike Howlett, featuring many musicians who had played with Allen in previous Gong lineups and other Canterbury scene bands. "Rejoice! I'm Dead!" was released during this later period of the band's career.
