Hosono's 1973 solo debut "Hosono House" found the artist, fresh off the dissolution of Happy End, exploring a remarkably contemporary blend of funk, disco, and city pop influences, years before they would become widespread. The album, recorded and released entirely by Hosono himself from his own apartment, was a prescient vision of electronic music to come.

Haruomi Hosono is a Japanese musician, singer, songwriter, and producer, a founding member of the influential Yellow Magic Orchestra. At the time of "Hosono House," he was already a significant figure in Japanese pop and rock music, having achieved success with his previous band Happy End.
