The sophomore album from Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds arrived after a period of significant live activity and sought to cement the band's identity beyond the shadow of Oasis. It saw Gallagher refining his signature songwriting style within a more cohesive, stadium-ready rock framework.
- The album was recorded in sessions spanning from February 2014 to September 2014 at numerous locations, including Prescription Studios in London and Electric Lady Studios in New York. It was produced by Noel Gallagher and George Dunbar, with additional production by Dave McCracken and Jonny Rockcliffe.
- "Chasing Yesterday" debuted at number one on the UK Albums Chart, selling over 89,000 copies in its first week, becoming the fastest-selling number one album of 2015 at that point.
- The release was preceded by the singles "Riverman" and "Ballroom Figure," neither of which reached the top 40 of the UK Singles Chart, though the album itself achieved commercial success.
Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds is the studio project of the former Oasis songwriter and guitarist, Noel Gallagher. Formed in 2011, the band released their self-titled debut album in 2011, which reached number one in the UK.
