After a five-year absence, The Shins returned with Port of Morrow, a record that found James Mercer continuing his signature blend of intricate melodies and sophisticated arrangements, albeit with a newly polished, stadium-ready sound.

Hailing from Albuquerque, New Mexico, The Shins are a foundational band in the indie rock landscape, fronted by the prolific songwriter James Mercer. Emerging in the early 2000s, they quickly became known for their melodic, hook-laden songwriting and distinctive vocal style. By 2012, The Shins were re-establishing their presence after a hiatus, with Mercer having also explored new sonic territory with Broken Bells.
