"When I Come Home" was the first single by The Spencer Davis Group not to feature lead vocals from Steve Winwood. The song reached number 12 on the UK Singles Chart.
- The song was written by the band's guitarist, Eddie Hardin, and keyboardist, Spencer Davis. It was recorded in London during the summer of 1966.
- The single was released in August 1966, preceding the group's second album, *The Second Spencer Davis Group Album*. It reached number 12 on the UK Singles Chart.
- The B-side, "Hurdy Gurdy Man," was written by the band's drummer, Nigel Dixon. It was one of the first songs to feature an electric sitar.
The Spencer Davis Group were a British rock band formed in Birmingham in 1963. They were one of the key bands of the 1960s British music boom.
