This 1999 compilation gathers highlights from Ultravox's early recordings, predating their major commercial success. It focuses on the band's initial, more experimental phase before their definitive synth-pop sound emerged.

Ultravox were a British band formed in London in 1973, initially drawing from glam rock and proto-punk. They later became pioneers of synth-pop and new wave in the early 1980s. By 1999, Ultravox had been inactive for some time, with Midge Ure and other members pursuing solo careers or other projects. The band had officially disbanded in 1988 after a farewell tour.
